Toyota’s premium three-row SUV, the Fortuner, famous for its bold styling, powerful appearance, and robust 4x4 capabilities, has surpassed a considerable milestone of 3 lakh cumulative sales in India since its introduction in 2009. This impressive figure includes the combined sales of both the Fortuner and the Fortuner Legender. The SUV remains a preferred choice among Indian consumers, reaffirming its position as a segment leader.

The Toyota Fortuner Legender that was introduced in 2021, brought a variety of features to increase its premium position like distinctive dual-tone design, sequential LED turn indicators, wireless charging, etc. These are some great capabilities of it. It also has a robust 2.8L turbo-diesel engine that offers an impressive 201 bhp and 500 Nm of torque which improves its performance and capability

Toyota Fortuner Hybrid Model Coming Soon!

According to the sources, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is expected to launch the Fortuner Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) to the market in the coming months. It is highly expected Toyota India has yet to officially confirm the launch timeline or specific details of the upcoming model. First unveiled in South Africa last year, the Toyota Fortuner Hybrid is powered by a 2.8-litre diesel engine integrated with a 48V mild hybrid system. This combination delivers a total output of 201 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque, with the hybrid unit alone contributing an extra 16 bhp and 42 Nm to enhance performance and efficiency.

The Hybrid Fortuner is equipped with an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), which enhances torque delivery during acceleration, ensures seamless start-stop transitions, and improves overall throttle response. According to the carmaker, this mild-hybrid variant offers up to 5% better fuel efficiency compared to the standard diesel-powered Fortuner.

Toyota Electric SUV Coming in 2025

Toyota is ready to enter the Indian electric vehicle market with its first-ever EV, expected to launch by the end of 2025.

Named the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, the new model will be a rebadged version of the Maruti e-Vitara, which is scheduled for release in September 2025.

Sharing its platform and powertrain with the e-Vitara, the Urban Cruiser EV will be available with two battery pack options and is expected to deliver a driving range of over 500 km in its top-spec variant.
